Xan's Songs...

Source: Xan's Pages...

Updated: Jan 13, 2006

Here is the ENTIRE ALBUM of SoundTrack - "The Movie..." that was originally released in 1991 on cassette tape, and re-released on cassette (with bonus trax) in 1994.   In 1999, two more tracks were added to the cassette and re-released, and a CD was in limited release in 2003.   Overall, there were less than 200 cassettes released, and less than 10 CDs were released.   The latest releases are digitally enhanced, re-ordered and a special "live" track added in April 2005.

Feedback is appreciated!

Track 01: SoundTrack - Mr Tambourine Man * [1:42]
APOLOGIES TO BOB DYLAN IN ADVANCE!   This is a VERY grunged version of The Byrds version of this classic hit.   NOT for purists, snoozers or Bob/Byrds fans, as this one will REALLY tick you off, as this quick-attack of crack-addicted grunge is for those who want to mosh, pogo and feel PAIN for just under two minutes...   (Lead Vocal: O. Mayar)
Track 02: SoundTrack - (I Knew I Was) Missing You [4:19]
Also released as a Single, this Ballad was also the first song ever written by Logan, and before you ask who the girl was that inspired this, be it known that the only inspiration behind this song was the song itself!   (Lead Vocal: K. Logan)
Track 03: SoundTrack - FM Pirate Radio [4:21]
This was released as the 2nd single.   The inspiration of this one was a movie called Pump Up The Volume, and this song was written in minutes after seeing it.   The words themselves are as classic as the first familiar words: "Testing, Testing, One, Two, Three..."   The intro took longer to make than the entire song, and there is a hidden "message" embedded in it...can you find it?   (Lead Vocal: K. Logan)
Track 04: SoundTrack - That's What She Said [2:24]
Written in self-defense (as Spooke puts it), this song was written in anger, and surprisingly it is the biggest bubblegum tune on this album!   This also is the first whole song (Words & music) written by Byrne.   (Lead Vocal: K. Logan)
Track 05: SoundTrack - Takin' It Slow [4:54]
This song was originally later in the album, moved forward for obvious reasons.   The 2nd Byrne tune is a challenge, as all the best musicians are also the greatest thieves, the challenge being to identify all 25 classic songs that makes up this song (Logan calls this his theme song), can you name them all?   The lyrics are the ONLY original part of this song.   (Lead Vocal: K. Logan)
Track 06: SoundTrack - GLORIA * [2:35]
This was the B side of the 1st single.   A cover tune by The Shadows Of Knight, the boys attempt to recreate an exact duplicate of the original.   (Lead Vocal: K. Logan)
Track 07: SoundTrack - (I'm Into) Something Good * [2:43]
This was the B side of the 2nd single.   Another attempt at a duplication of a classic hit from Herman's Hermits, we find that the boys do rather well at the classics!   (Lead Vocal: K. Logan)
Track 08: SoundTrack - Two Kinds Of Magic [3:52]
Logan believes the words he wrote for this country-flavoured song, and if you believe as well, then this song proves it's content in more ways than one.   (Lead Vocal: K. Logan)
Track 09: SoundTrack - Why, Baby, Why [3:22]
Xan wrote this "FYB/YFB" song after being burned rather badly by a gal who pretty much played him for a fool.   This song is also on the metal side, even close to punk.   (Lead Vocal: X. One...)
Track 10: SoundTrack - Another Affair [3:19]
Have you ever written a song that refuses to end?   Logan wrote this in '92, and has fought the urge to keep adding more verses to it as it after each encounter he has had.   This pop ballad originally was earlier in the album, moved back here for obvious reasons!   (Lead Vocal: K. Logan)
Track 11: SoundTrack - Henhouse Hijynx [3:15]
This instrumental rocker was written by Logan, Byrne and One..., though this was a pair of chord excersizes that Logan used to warm up with.   (Lead Guitar: K. Logan)
Track 12: SoundTrack - Silver Platter ** [3:14]
The lyrics of song was written by the other half of Crash & Byrne, and the music by Byrne himself.   This heavy rock tune was written as a slam, and turned around into a boomerang.   (Lead Vocal: O. Mayar)
Track 13: SoundTrack - Excuse Me ** [3:35]
Another lyric penned by Crash, music by Byrne, this crunchy, munchy hard rockin tune has all the flavours of the classic Boy Meets Girl, Girl Abuses Boy, Boy Walks Away stories.   (Lead Vocal: S. Byrne)
Track 14: SoundTrack - (I Knew I Was) Missing You [LIVE] *** [4:36]
Okay, okay, it's not really a live track!   This is the original tweaked with digital magic to appear as a live song.   It is included here in this new compilation because I have had requests for it.   See track 02 information for more details.

Recorded Live on April 1st, 2005 at The Fantasy Club.
NOTE: For the latest release here, the songs are now in a new order, and have been digitally enhanced, and renamed to be more friendly for portable MP3 players.

Also, to avoid confusion, they have been renamed XanBand rather than SoundTrack, tho the tags still contain the original SoundTrack artist tag.
